Um...yeah, I wrote another one. Big Grin

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Uh...who is it?" the gruff voice called through the door.
"Um, Sarah Green." I replied.
"Come on in!" he replied enthusiastically. I winced and opened the door, stepping into the room.
Miller has the biggest office in the building. I had only been in there once on my own. Evidently, the conversation piece of the room was the huge framed poster over his desk displaying a young blonde woman in a tiny pink bikini, proudly bent over to retrieve something from the bottom shelf of a fridge, leaving little to the imagination. That hadn't been there a couple of days ago when I was last in there. Mmmmm...Brendon will be disappointed he didn't come and get it himself.... I also noticed that the room reeked of cigarettes and strong cologne.
Miller looked up from his desk at me and smiled in a way that made me want to run right out of the room and hide behind Brendon. He's forty-six years old and stands at a height of 5'5. His slightly greasy hair is a suspiciously dark shade of black and thinning away on top. He has the type of face that's in a permanent sneer.
None of this would matter, but he is an asshole as well.
"What are you..." he glanced over his shoulder at the poster to see what I had seen stopped by. "Oh, I see. What do you think?"
Why the fuck is he asking me what I think of his soft-core porn?
"Uh...it's...tasteful." I replied dryly.
He chuckled hoarsely at my remark and gestured toward the chair in front of his desk. "Come, sit. I don't believe we've ever had a proper conversation. I appreciate a female with a sharp wit."
I hesitated before sitting down in the chair and strategically crossed my legs.
"I'm just here for - " I began, but he interrupted.
"How long have you been working here, Sarah?" he lit a cigarette and glanced at it, thinking. "Six months?"
"Five." I corrected, feeling uneasy for a reason I couldn't fathom.
"Yes, I remember the day you and Urie showed up here." he nodded, taking a long, slow drag of his cigarette and savouring the sensation. "No qualifications, no experience, just new in the city...you and your flower in your hair and him in his girl's jeans..."
"Um...yeah, I guess we're something of an odd pair." I said quietly, spotting Brendon's comic book on the edge of the desk. How the fuck am I going to get it?
"Indeed." he nodded in agreement, shifting in his chair so that he was leaning over the desk toward me, head propped on his hand. "A couple, are you?"
"That's a little..." I stopped. Inappropriate, I'd been going to say, but glancing behind him I recalled that inappropriate seemed to be Miller's style. "No, we're just friends."
"Hmmm...from childhood?" he'd seemed surprised by my response.
"Um...no, actually." I folded my hands on the desk across from his, wondering if I could possibly distract him long enough to grab the comic. "We met five months ago, back in Vegas...we moved here to New York together after ten days of meeting each other."
"I see. What age are you both, you look very young?"
"We're both nineteen." I replied.
"Ah. That'd make you the youngest in the office. By far." he took another drag of his cigarette. "I apologize, would you like one?"
"No...I don't smoke, thank you." I felt my hand inch toward the comic book.
"It's a very bad habit." he stubbed it out in an ash tray that proclaimed him a 'Love Machine.' "Sweetie pie like you gotta have a boyfriend, right?"
"That's a little...personal." I admitted.
"I'm sorry, my dear." he smiled. "I often can't think straight around pretty girls like you...ask...innappropriate questions. Take no notice."
"Well, it's been a pleasure, but I really should get back to work now." I stood up quickly. Fuck Brendon and his fucking comic book.
"Oh, let me get the door for you." Miller eased himself up out of his and went to the door. When his back was turned, I slid the comic off his desk and held it behind my back.
"Thank you, Mi-Sir." I smiled and left the room.
"Please, call me Bob."
I ignored him and walked away.
"I was just about to make good on my fire extinguisher promise." Bren called as I went to my desk. "What happened?"
"I've never feared more for my virtue." I flung the comic book at him. He caught it. "That better the best fucking comic in the world, man. With the shit I listened to to retrieve it."
"Well...aren't you the little ninja?" he opened it and flicked to the page he'd been on. "And a very sexy ninja, if I may so."
"No, you may not." I informed him. "Shut the fuck up and read your comic."
"Seriously, though." Bren's dark eyes were on my face and he was biting his full lower lip. "I'm impressed. As a thank you, I may have to sweep that shit off the desk and take you right here and now, in full view of the office."
"Damn, that's sexy." I teased. "Come and get it, B."
I went back to typing when I happened to glance down at the floor and see two tartan Converse by my desk.
"What the fuck do you want now, Brendon?" I asked.
"I've come to get it, as you requested." he grinned down at me.
Brendon and I have an...unusual friendship. Other people think it's strange that we flirt so much. I'm not gonna lie, he's an attractive boy. Very attractive. And occasionally, we have gotten carried away and shared a passionate kiss, but we've gone no further. Brendon and I goof around a lot, but I know that I can trust him completely and he'll always help me out of any shit I get myself into. And vice versa. We don't have a conventional friendship...but I wouldn't have it any other way.
I remember the night I met Brendon, five months before. I'd been walking home from work alone and I noticed these two guys were following me. It being Vegas, and me being a lone female, I instantly jumped to the worst possible (and most likely) conclusion. I took a shortcut down an alley in an attempt to get away from them, but to no avail, they persisted. Another dark figure came up the alley toward me and I figured that it was another one of them.
The guys behind me sped up and I kept walking because it was the only thing I could think to do, despite the fact that I was walking toward the other guy. When I got close enough to see him, I noticed that he was my age and quite pale, with beautifully contrasting deep brown eyes and dark hair. He was dressed in tight, black jeans and a red hoodie and Converse. His dusky eyes flitted across my face to the men behind me, who appeared to have slowed down. To my surprise, he waved and called out; "Hey, honey! Where have you been? I was so worried...you're never late." I was even more taken aback when gently he wrapped his arms around my waist and fervently pressed his lovely, full lips to mine.
I heard the other guys mumble something about taking a wrong turn and their footsteps fading away into the distance. Yet this stranger was still kissing me. In fact, he'd pressed my back up against the cold brick wall of the alley way. He was quite a bit taller than me, I stand at a height of about 5'3 and a half, I had my arms wrapped around his neck. I loosened my grip and he stepped back and grinned.
"Um...thank you...so much...for that..." I gasped out, admiring his appearance again.
"Hahaha, yeah, it was such an arduous struggle to kiss a lovely girl who was being chased by some low-lives." he breathed, still grinning. "I probably would've kissed you anyway, to be honest."
And that's how I met Brendon Urie.
