A/N: Okay, this is my second fanfic but it's the first one I've posted, so please, bear with me here.


Prologue: An Endless Search

The harsh orange light of the dim streetlight flickered as three dark figures passed beneath. The one in front, shorter than the others, led with a calm, confident air, her long black cloak fluttering around her ankles. The other two followed with the same grace, the same sinuous way of moving, though they were less sure of themselves, feeling out of place in the unfamiliar territory.

The leader paused, tasting the air. Impatiently she brushed her short, flaming red hair out of her face.

Behind her, the other two exchanged a glance: they knew that their leader had found what she was looking for as she grinned, her perfect white teeth catching the pale moonlight.

Without a sound, the three figures leapt into the forest.

“Are we very close?” The male’s soft, musical voice sounded like a gunshot in the silent night.

“A few more miles,” the leader answered quietly. “We are heading for the city.”

They continued on in silence for some way.

“Are you sure about this?” asked the other female, fingering the knife in her pocket.

The leader froze, the other two bolting past her before skidding to a stop.

“You doubt me?” she hissed through her teeth.

“I’m just saying that maybe you’ve got the wrong place.” She shrugged, eyeing her leader carefully.

“It was a simple mistake,” the leader snapped. “Any other could have made it. If I didn’t need you for this project, you wouldn’t still be standing.”

And with that, she darted off through the trees.

“Nice going,” hissed the male. “She’ll be bad-tempered all night.”

“It’s not my fault that no one else decided to dwell on the fact that it’s highly unlikely we’ll actually find any of our kind here. I don’t want this to be another false alarm.”

The male snorted. “Now we won’t be able to reason with her. Let’s just get this over with.”

They passed quickly through the woods, dodging and weaving around trees and bushes. Animals scattered in their wake, their scent so tempting that it was all they could do not to turn around and pounce. Gradually, a light began to shine through the thick vegetation. It appeared that was where their leader was heading...

They paused to gaze upon their destination. The city shone with thousands of lights, blinding to any normal human. Even at this time of night, the place was still busy: your everyday drunks and rejects wandering the streets, gazed down upon by the wealthy businessmen and showgirls passing in Porsches and limousines. Even from here, the sound of coins clinking against one another and roulette wheels spinning reached their ears.

This was Las Vegas: the city that never sleeps.

Silently, the three leapt toward the city.

Im Pippa, I have light brown hair that just barely goes past my shoulders i have grey/blue eyes and im 5'5 I really like dogs and tennis and i have a dog named scamp AND i am REALLY goofy and random, im east coast preppy (like keds and polo shirts not like ambercrombie and finch) but im not afraid to wear like skiny jeans and stuff, im very smart and i love science and medical shows (except for like the birth days shows D=)i make really funny, awesome facial expressions and i live (yes LIVE) to make people laugh
