Chapter 17

It took me a while before my head stopped spinning. I wanted to ring Brendon to warn him, in case Audrey went to see him. But by the time I composed myself and straightened out my mind, it was 12. Audrey had left my room 45 minutes ago, if she was going to see Brendon, she’d be there by now. I still didn’t know what to think. She gave us her blessing, but, why? If it had have been me, I would have went crazy, I’d have attacked the other girl. But Audrey… She just seemed sad, like she knew it was coming. Maybe she did. I left it another hour before I decided it was safe to call Brendon.
“Hello?” His beautiful voice came out of the receiver.
“Brendon!”
“Oh hey beautiful, are you okay?”
“Yeah, but what about you?!”
“Huh? What are you going on about?
“AUDREY!” I almost screamed.
“What about her?”
“She never went to see you?”
“No. Why? Did she go to see you? Shit Kiara what happened? Are you alright?”
“Yeah I’m fine. She knows about us, one of her friends saw us yesterday, and heard your announcement. She came over and just said that she’s alright with it, she doesn’t blame me because she knows you love me and all she wants is for you to be happy.”
“Wow, really? I’m so sorry I didn’t tell her first!”
“No seriously it’s fine! But Bren?”
“Yeah?”
“I think you should go see her. She’s upset, and she still really cares about you.”
“I know, but I’ll do that tomorrow morning, before we leave. Today I have to get organized, pack my stuff and book me onto your flight home!”
“No Brendon. Go see her now.” I didn’t even acknowledge the fact he was still insistent on coming back to Jersey with me. He sighed.
“Okay, but then I’m coming straight up to you.”
“Sure, I’ll see you in a bit.”
“Kiara?” Brendon said.
“Yeah?” I replied.
“I love you so much, you know that right?”
“Of course I do Bren.” I smiled. “I love you too, now go see Audrey.”
I hung up. I tried not to think about tomorrow, but it’s all I could think about. Tomorrow I would get on a plane and leave here. Leave Brendon. I know he wanted to come with me, but, I wouldn’t let him. As much as I wish he could, he couldn’t just drop everything and come with me. I didn’t bother wiping my tears as they started to roll, one by one, down my cheeks.
