Chapter Four
Everything we had. . . .

-Pippa’s POV-

I sat there on the bench while Ryan was getting our ices.

I looked at the monument towering in front of me and then the lake behind it. The lake has glistening as the sun was setting down. It twinkled and sparkled beautifully. A graceful group of swan went down the pond. They bobbed their heads and paddled off.

“Hey.” He said and sat down next to me. “I got you vanilla…”

I laughed. “Thanks. I’ve never had Italian ice before.”

“You’re kidding me!”

“Nope.” I chuckled.

“Be right back, I have to use the bathroom.” He said and went off. I now looked up. The golden clouds were making their way across the pink sky. A couple of seagulls flew by, one after the other.

“I’m back.” He smiled. He was holding four more Italian ices, and one of the workers trailed behind with six more. Her hair was messed up at the top, but then was collected by her visor. She was wearing tan slacks and a navy polo, with a red apron over it.

“Uh..” She started. She set them on the bench and walked off. I giggled.

“Thanks, Ry.”

“Well, ya’ know, if it’s your first time having Italian ice, you’ll never know which one you’ll like the most…”

“So what? You bought the whole stand?”

“. . .Every flavor.” He smiled.

“Wow. I’m impressed, Ross.”

“Only the best for my best,” He paused. Where he’d usually say ‘Friend’, he needed a new word. A new word which, before even said, made us blush and giggle. “Girlfriend.”

At that moment I leaned in.

The kiss was like magic.

I’ve never had a kiss like that.

The kiss made me blush and smile.

“So, cinnamon lip-gloss, huh?”

I laughed.

Chapter Five
You’re chasing him too far…

-Laura’s POV-

Tyler and I walked to health class.

“…And I was like, you know, ‘Don’t do that,’ but the next thing you know the kid is going after the stuffed animal with scissors and-“

“Shhh.” I said. He hadn’t realized we were now in the health room.

“..Oh.” He said, face turning a rosy color.

“You’re late.” The teacher said. We found a couple of seats in the back and sat down. The teacher shook her head walking down the isle of desks. The whole class turned around in their seats and stared.

“Fill these out please,” She said and handed us late slips. “And bring them up to the front of the class when you’re done.”

We giggled as she walked up to the projector.

“Now, we will watch a video. Anyone know the causes of AIDS?”

Everyone giggled, no one answered.

“Okay then.”

She hit play.

“Have you heard of AIDS?” The speakers boomed, volume turned up high. “It’s a disease. It can be caught by needles-“

The huge projector showed a picture of a needle.

Tyler instantly turned to me.

“Laura, you…okay?!”

“Tyler…no.” I said. He knew what happened when I saw something like that.

The room started getting fuzzy, spots all around. Then it switched to black and white.

“S-shit.” I managed to stutter.

The black parts got bigger than the white parts, and then every thing went black.

I woke up to a bunch of people standing in a circle over me.

“Whoa, uh…hi, guys.” I said with wide eyes.

“You’ve been out for, like, seven minutes.” Tyler said with even wider eyes.

“Class…class…give her some space.” The teacher ordered.

“Tyler, go get her an ice pack.” She said.

Instead of feeling like by passing out I missed everything, I felt like I was waking up.

Everything seemed a lot clearer to me.

-Greg’s POV-

“Ah, Mr.Walker, back again?” The detention ‘teacher’ asked. I walked over to my usual seat next to Sophia. She leaned back in her chair, put on her dark sunglasses, and nodded.

I chuckled and sat down next to her.

“So, Mr.Walker. What brings you here?” She asked, staring forward.

“Mrs.Lite.”

“Ahh.”

I pulled out my shades and put my legs on the table, crossed my arms, leaning back in my chair.

“Mr.Walker, sit right.”

“Why? I’m already here. Doesn’t really matter.” I said.

Sophia nodded.

“Sophia, move away from Greg.”

“No.”

“Now.”

“I said no.” She said and pursed her lips. She put the Fall Out Boy hood over her head.

“No hoodies in school. Wear it like a sweatshirt.” The teacher ordered.

“No.”

“Yes.”

“Now, or ISS.”

“ISS.” Sophia replied simply.

“You sure?”

“Positive.” She said with a smirk.

“Uh-“ I started.

“What do you want, Greg?” The teacher said sternly.

“If she goes, I’m going too.” I said, mouth just about in a straight line.

“Fine then. I will see you both tomorrow first period.”

“Yes you will.” I said and popped a stick of gum in my mouth.

The bell finally rang, and I walked out. Sophia ran and caught up to me.

“You’re kind of cool.” She said, looking across the street. We were out of the school and in downtown.

“Not too lame yourself.” I said and walked away.
