Chapter 1



Veronica sat on the wet grass outside the

concert hall. She was plugged into her i-pod,

droned into the beat of Pretty. Odd. In fact,

she was at PATD's concert, right now. Pulling

out her diaary from a bag filled with things to

entertain herself as she waited in line, she

turned to a blank page and wrote:



Dear Diary,



Well, here I am. At the early entry for PATD.

Wow. I'm crazy about Ryan Ross-but he has a

girlfriend-some girl named Freda Sharp.

Whatever. I have a boyfriend, after all. I

can't wait to go inside! And after, to: THE

MEET AND GREET! I can't believe I got the

passes. I mean, wow. Oh, here comes the band!

Veronica

Slapping it shut, she craned her neck to get a

good view of the band. Ryan was in front,

Brendon right behind him. Spencer and Jon

followed. They were being ambushed by screaming

fangirls until Zach came to stop them. She

supressed a laugh as somebody threw them

underwear-it landed on Brendon's face! The

other fans, though, were howling with laughter.

As they passed her, she threw the band the

presents she had made for them, all brightly

wrapped in gold paper. Ryan looked around 'till

he saw Veronica, waving, and smiled. She felt

her heart melt as he walked towards her. "Hey,

thanks!" he said, smiling still, and ran to

catch up with the others. Turning back, he

looked straight at her-and winked. She felt

like flying-this was too perfect.
