Looking up at the stage was something that always made me feel comfortable. The feeling that everything would be all right for just a few hours comforted me. If I hated or loved the band that was playing for the audience never mattered, nor will it ever. Nothing ever has changed that feeling for me. Not the stench of beer or the off key signers that stand beside me.

Like many other kids, I listen to my ipod. Most might think that it might be surgically applied to my ear. Those who say that usually never care to pay attention to me for a mere ten minutes before going back to their own worlds. I prefer that though. Being in the center of attention will put me into a cold sweat.

God only knows how I befriended Ben. He's the guy who local girls would swoon over as he sang sweet melodies into their ears. I'll be the first to admit, he is a good looker. But his arrogance overwhelms his looks and so I settled on us just being friends. The average Saturday night was him and me lounging on my couch as some movie lighted up the screen. Occasionally he would play a song acoustically on his guitar, testing it with me before he played it for the small crowd. I will always cherish my time with him because he is the only true friend I have.

I find it very silly that I can't find myself some new potential friends. In fact I am almost ashamed of myself for not being able to start a conversation with a new person. Maybe one day I will be ale to figure out what enables singers to get on stage in front of so maybe people. Maybe then I might just be able to do the same.

I am trying to get out of that habit of mine. But it has been a long time so hopefully that will have worn off by now.

Update! :]

Ben gave me a soft push towards the book section of target. Earlier that day he has self diagnosed me with depression as I did the ' fake gun to my head' motion. Because of that he decided it would be good for me to get out of the house and get into the world I struggled to protect myself from.

He left me to go find something on the other side of the store , muttering something about culinary inspiration. I quietly made my way to a row where books adorned every inch of the wall. The majority of them I had already read and had no intention to read again. I settled on a wrinkled teen magazine that had obviously been placed in the wrong section. A few of the adds that were shoved inside it fell out and scattered across the floor when I grabbed it.That of course earned an automatic groan from myself. I sat my bag down on the floor beside me and started to reach for them. A stranger bent down as I did and grabbed all of them before I could even get my hand on one.

I thanked him, but because of the fact I got no reaction I figured he didn't hear me.

Instead of handing them back to me he continued to hold them in his hands. "You read Pre-Teen magazines?"

I looked down at it and felt a light blush creep onto my face. "No."

"Oh so you just read it for the ads?"

I awkwardly sat the magazine back down where I had found it and avoided looking him in the eyes.

Ben had managed to come up behind me with out making a sound. A overly stuffed plastic bag full of unknown items hanging from his hand. He softly grabbed my hand and started to walk towards the exit. To me he had always been the over protective brother I never had, or wanted for that matter. I felt bad for just leaving the stranger like that, but then again the same thing had happened to me multiple times.

My mouth started to water as I watched Ben bring a plate of chocolate strawberries to me. He took a seat next to me , "Do you like the flowers I bought you?"

I grabbed a strawberry and nodded, "They are pretty."

He grabbed the remaining part of the strawberry and sat it down on the plate. "I really need to talk to you.I have been thinking about something".

I crossed my legs and gave him my full attention. "About what?"

"I...well..I " He stopped talking, obviously not be able to find the right words. "I think I am in time to watch my favorite show." A awkward laugh escaped is lips as he grabbed the remote and turned on the tv.

I shrugged my shoulders and then grabbed my strawberry off of the plate. "You don't make any sense."

He looked at me from the corner of his eye as I finished off the rest of my delicious piece of heaven. "I love you."

If I hadn't have swallowed my food a second ago it would have been sprayed across the area in from of us. Leaving two very awkward and yet disgusted people. "You love who?"

The door bell rang, sounding louder than ever before. I slowly slid out of my seat and walked to the door. As I started unlocking each lock I started to go through the list of people who could possibly be at the door. Then I cam up with only one logical answer. A rapist.


I cracked open the door and then quickly went to shut it. His hand shot in between the small space left, making it impossible for me to close the door.

Ben leaned over the edge of the couch to see what was going on. "What's wrong?"

I opened the door so the stranger would be able to retrieve his wounded hand from the door. "Nothing Ben."

He looked at me with an odd expression as picked up something off of the ground.. "Who is Ben?"

I walked out side and closed the door. "Who are you?"

He held out his hand, "Alex". After I didn't offer my hand to him he handed my bag to me. "You left that on the ground. I would have left it there , but I don't trust the store..."

"Oh." I looked down at it to make sure everything was there. "How did you know where I live?"

"Your license..."
