you've waited long enough. here it is.
Chapter 1 -Lucy's POV- It had been years since Brendon and I first met. Then, we were such innocent teenagers, happily in love with each other, until my family moved away. Now, we had grown into young adults, and we hadn't seen each other since. I had pretended to move on. I now lived in a one-bedroom apartment with my boyfriend, Craig. The heart necklace Brendon gave me the last time we saw each other was hidden away somewhere. I had pretended to forget about him, but I really hadn't. I had secretly been calling and emailing him at least once a week, but I never got a response. I understood that he was very busy with his band, but it wouldn't hurt just to talk to him. That day started off as just an ordinary day. The natural light that came into my room through the window woke me up very early. Good, I had plenty of time to get ready for my job at the local record store. "Good morning," Craig said to me. "Morning," I said back, still half asleep. I got up, got dressed, said goodbye to Craig and walked to my store. "Hi, Lucy," my boss, Wendy, said as I walked in. "Hi," I said. "Want me to vacuum the store as always?" "Oh, please do," Wendy said. I was probably one of the worst employees the store had ever had. Wendy made me do a lot of dirty jobs that no one else wanted to do. Like vacuuming, for instance. After I finished vacuuming, the store opened. People came pouring in. My next job was to place items on the shelves. Sigh. I sometimes wish I could just quit this job, but without it I'd hardly have enough money to live. As I was working, I noticed an interesting song playing in the store. It kind of had a country-folky sound to it. And then, the words started. Allow me to exaggerate a memory or two Where summers lasted longer than, Longer than we do When nothing really mattered except for me to be with you. But in time, we all forgot, and we all grew. Your melody sounds as sweet as the first time it was sung With a little bit more character for show And by the time your father's heard of all the wrong you've done Then I'm putting out the lantern, Find your own way back home. I recognized that voice immediately. It was so good to hear it again. I had to ask Wendy about the song. "Uh, Wendy, what song is this?" I asked her. "Oh, this?" she said. "I can't seem to remember what it's called, but it's by Panic at the Disco. You like them?" "Uh, yeah," I said. "I think I actually might have possibly...dated the lead singer in high school." Wendy rolled her eyes. "Right. Suuuure you did." "No, I'm serious-" "I'm sure you did, Lucy," Wendy said sarcastically. "Well anyways, if you like them, they're coming here in a couple of months. You might want to check it out." "Yeah, I will," I said. "Anyways, thanks!" "You're welcome," Wendy said. I caught her rolling her eyes again. This message has been edited.
