i'm sad..i didn't refresh myself on this section yet. the book was hiding from me this morning. i'll read it tomorrow.
this is pretty much a useless post. yay? i think some stuff from Notes of a Dirty Old Man started in this part, if i'm not mistaken. that was a really good book. "the bookclub. we go there." "People who claim that they’re evil are usually no worse than the rest of us. It’s people who claim that they’re good, or anyway better than the rest of us, that you have to be wary of." |

hold on....gotta check where this section left off....
i got kinda confused with the geraniums. were they under some kind of hanging garden or something? anyone mind explaining? i think it's funny that she cares so much about what the town thinks of him. he feels like he doesnt need to prove himself to anyone and wants her to feel the same. i think thats a good attitude to have in life. he thinks the way i wish i thought. team patrick stump team brendon urie team dylan |

ooh that was one of the stories in Notes.
there were shelves all over the bedroom and the geraniums were on them. whenever they had sex i guess it would rattle them and they would fall. "the bookclub. we go there." stephanie: they have notes of a dirty old man at my library, but i didnt want to read it at the same time im reading something else by bukowski. so i'll get it when this book is over!
mrs urie: i dont know your name.i definetly wish i could have that attitude about life. i think i do more now than i used to. i didnt find the buffalo thing amusing, but i did, however think that when he wore a suit on jeans day was funny. I cant decide if i think Henry was using Joyce for her money or not. because he seemed to talk about it a lot, but at the end he said he didnt care about it and he didnt expect it anyways. does anyone hae any opinions? It seemed like he man singing was just an excuse to quit his job, so i was glad when he started working at the post office again. i think he said something, or maybe someone on here said something about how everybody always ends up back at the post office. i guess its true. i thought this might be a kind of good quote.. "This kind of life is like everybody else's kind of life: its killing us." |

I don't think that Hank was after her money because he didn't really know about it untill after they were married. Also I think he wanted to think that he would get her money but because she always made him work that he realized that he would never get the money.

braxton: that's an awesome quote! and it's also very true. people work all day and they just never find the time to relax and just live, and that's all Henry wants to do.
I like that he doesn't care what people think about him. that IS a good attitude to have, and i wish i had it. I didn't think the buffalo thing was funny either. he really could have gotten hurt and he was close to it, but i guess it's something that town likes to do? who knows.. him wearing a suit on jeans day was great! another example of him not going along with the crowd. yeah, i figured the geraniums were just on a shelf.. I don't think he was after her money just for the money. Like its' been mentioned, he didn't know she had the money until after they got married. I think the reason he liked her having money, is because he didn't want to work. they had money. he just wanted to relax and enjoy things, but she wanted to prove to her family they could support themselves, so he realized he was always going to have to keep working, so it wasn't this thing he was really after. he still stayed with her, though i'm not really sure why. i think he sort of felt bad for her and just didn't want to be the one to break it off, but he really didn't seem to be IN love with her you know? |

yeah i think i agree with all of oyu on him not being after the money. thanks for helping me with that. ahah.
yeah i agree with you lauren that he didnt seem that in love with her. the way he wrote it, i dont think he like dher family, and i think he got annoyed with her a lot. i personally did not like her. it started with the buffalo thing, wich was just kind of weird, but then when she kicked the dog i really didnt like her anymore. plus, she was going behind his back about the diverce. although i can see her rationale about doing it or she would never have done it. but idk, i think she should have stopped having sex with him and stuff after she filed it. |

Yay Sunday! Book discussions! Hi everybody!
The buffalo thing was (If I were him) scary. I'd get freaked out if there was a buffalo near me. It was mean of them to laugh afterwards. The jean-day thing was amusing. I definitely know people who would do that. Where were the geraniums? I was thinking it was a like one of the canopy beds, and they were on the little things that would have the canopy. (Do you see where this is going?) I think he was just with her to be with her. Not for the money. He was always saying how he had to prove to her family that he didn't want their money. I feel bad for the dog with flies. And the birds. How could he do that to them? But I can see where he was coming from. Dang! I went through and noted up this part during school and left it there. I'll pick it up tomorrow and get those quotes and notes and all the stuff I marked up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

I think she just wanted to be with someone and wanted to have a physical relationship, because they really only ever had sex with each other and that is what she was after most of the time. then, when she got her job and found someone else who she liked, she wanted to get a divorce. and Henry was okay with her divorcing him, so it shows that for one, he didnt' really care about the money(he really didn't have it to begin with....i mean, not to do what he wanted...) and it also seems to show, once again, he wasn't in love with her. so yeah, i think it was a 'i want to be have someone and have sex with them' thing more than an actual relationship.

I agree with you Braxton. He seemed upset that she was mean to the dog, and he was the one who actually housetrained him and was mad when Joyce would just leave him outside.
The birds he didn't like, but that's because they were annoying, and he let them go..which might not have been the best thing to do...but he wasn't mean to them. she just got animals was mean to them or didn't take care of them. She seemed really immature. |

yeah it might have been the best thing to do. if they werent being treated properly[which based on the dog, they probably weren't] they might have had a chance out in the wild.. birdfeeders, etc. because it is in california.. and if he left them out on the porch, they would have gotten eaten alive by flies.

Exactly. It was probably best for them and the birds. he didn't want them, and i doubt Joyce took care of them, and you are right, I'm sure they would still have a chance in the wild.
The flies were crazy!!! eww...gosh, that must have been horrible!!! |
