1. How do I join the BookClub?
- Log in. Read the book. Post. Yes, it's that simple. 2. Can I join in the middle of a book? - Sure can! You can read the book and post in whichever discussion area is open for it. 3. What do I do if I have already read/finished the book before everyone else? - Each book is divided into secions which we discuss weekly (new discussion threads open up on Sundays). About midway through the completion of each book, a "General Discussion" thread will open up for those who have already finished the book. You can discuss the book in it's entirety there. You can also feel free to continue to post "section by section" as each discussion opens. 4. How do I know which book is currently under discussion? - Two ways. (1) Look for the title/author of the current book posted in the "Current Book" announcement thread. (2) All discussion threads for the curent book are posted as stickys. They will always be toward the top of the thread list. 5. I have a suggestion for the next book, where do I post that? - When we are taking suggestions (usually two weeks before the completion of the current book), a thread will open up under "New Book Suggestions" (keep in mind that if it isn't a sticky, it's not for the next official book). Please post them there. I cannot stress this enough - IF YOU HAVE A SUGGESTION THAT YOU WANT CONSIDERED FOR THE NEXT BOOK AND THE "NEW BOOK SUGGESTIONS" THREAD IS NOT OPEN, PLEASE EITHER HOLD YOUR SUGGESTION UNTIL IT DOES OPEN OR MESSAGE IT TO ME. I WILL DELETE ALL THREADS SUGGESTING NEW BOOKS UNLESS IT IS THE "NEW BOOK SUGGESTIONS" THREAD. THIS CREATES LESS CONFUSION AND LESS CONFUSION = HAPPY BOOKCLUB. 6. When does the new book discussion start? - About 1 - 2 weeks after the completion of the current book. This gives everyone time to complete the current book, take a little break from reading, and it also gives me time to set up voting for the next official book. Be patient. 7. Can I post in the discussions for any previous BookClub book? - Yes and no. Each book's discussion thread will remain open until the completion of the following book's discussion. (EXAMPLE: All threads for "The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things" [book #1] will remain open until the last discussion of "A Long Way Down" [book #2]. Then all threads for "The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things" [book #1] will be deleted and so on and so forth. You can discuss the CURRENT and LAST book of the BookClub, but all previous threads will be closed. Again, this creates less confusion and less confusion = happy BookClub. 8. Can we talk about other books/authors besides the book/author of the official current book? - Yes you can. The forum is full of threads about other books/authors. If you do not already see a thread open for the book/author you would like to discuss, feel free to open one. Please make sure that there is not already an open post for the same topic though. 9. My parents say that I can't read that book, what do I do? - If you can't read the current book for whatever reason, you can do a few other things in the meantime. *Read another book and post a general thread about it. This way if anyone else has read the same book, you can discuss it 'unofficially' with them. *Read the discussion threads! If you can't read the book, you can at least read the discussions, that way you get a general idea on everything that you missed. ***IMPORTANT - IF YOU READ/DISCUSS A BOOK THAT IS NOT THE OFFICIAL BOOK OF THE BOOKCLUB, DO NOT CREATE DISCUSSION SECTIONS FOR IT, DISCUSS IT AS A WHOLE IN A GENERAL THREAD ABOUT THAT BOOK. THE OFFICIAL BOOK IS THE ONLY ONE THAT WILL HAVE MORE THAN ONE THREAD.*** If you have any questions not mentioned above, post them here and I (or a fellow BookClub member) will reply here. You can also message me with any questions that you have and I will get back to you and make sure that it's addressed here as well. Any other threads created for questions will be deleted. Please put this thread to good use. Thats what it's here for! xo Sylvia |

hey..a little question: can you make a new discussion about anything random but related to books..mm..i mean like for example startng a thread about..why you like reading or something.
and i'd love to join the book club but its a difficult task to find the books!!..i mean i dont live in the US where you can go to any library and find a book..so what can i do..post unofficial threads about other books for example?? .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- DONT MESS WITH PATRICK!!! |

Welcome to the bookclub!
yes, the example you gave would be fine for you to post about..each thread someone posts doesn't have to be directly about one certain book, but look around at some of the other threads before you make a new one!! sorry you can't find the books. if you can order them off of the internet, then that might work. but yes, you can start threads about other books. it doesn't have to be an official 'bookclub' book!!!! hope this explains everything you asked. |

|

oh! that's great then!...thank you very much
