Yeah I guess Im ok with it... I just saw it and didnt really expect that so... xD I wonder if JKR was really thinking about that when she wrote the books or she decided to start having fun with the characters??? xD Nah.. she probably had it in mind...

i think its kind of lame because it's unnecessary. A-he's dead. B-he was so old it's really gross to think of his sexual life at all. of course we weren't going to hear much about his relationships-the series was focused around harry. it's not like he was going to be like "hey harry, so i was banging these 2 hot chicks last night..." we really didn't know much about him in general. who cares if he's gay or straight or has a special thing for goats like his brother?

I didn't see that..thanks for the link Stephanie. And yeah, I don't really care either way. It's interesting to find out now, but I also think it's kind of cool...because I have no problem with people being gay..they are people like everyone else, and she's never said anyone else was, so it's kind of cool.
So yeah, that's my opinion. Big shocker though. haha

I never would have guessed something like this. Really. That's interesting. Like, I can't think of any textual evidence to support it, so it's like, yeah- not something I would have figured out without reading the article.

Yeah, the first thing I thought of was, "Wow she really is trying to make the world a better place."
I don't think I've read anything about whether or not she has a problem with homosexuality, but I always just assumed she didn't.
Think about it: She makes a character EVERYONE loves, regardless of his choices and past actions. He was the ultimate good guy in the series, the one Harry aspired to be. She's taking someone that everyone wants to meet and look up to and saying, "see, gay people are just like everyone esle. There isn't anything wrong with them, they aren't all pedophiles or cross-dressers." etc.

I love that he is gay. I agree that it doesn't add anything to the plot, but I think that is the point... whether or not you're gay doesn't change who you are, good or evil.

actually now they're calling dumbledore's relationship with harry into question because he spent so much time looking out for him. i know, people.

that's why i think if she was going to make him gay she should have done it in the course of the story although i guess people will see whatever they want no matter what. just like all the people in the seventh book who were questioning him because of his childhood. it doesn't change anything he's done. i say he's dead, let him be.
