"i am not one of your sodomite brethren"
^^possibly the best sentence ever. i laughed so hard it was ridiculous.

his vocabulary gets on my nerves. not so much because he tries to use big words. big words are good. A for effort. but it's just so pretentious when you use them incorrectly. can he please invest in a dictionary?

i love how contradictory his ideas for the movement are. like in one sentence he's talking about understanding fellow human beings and the next sentence he was talking about excluding the people who aren't pure. and the whole connection with the "master race" that came toward the end of chapter 10 just completely bowled me over. for someone who worries so much about racism that he would psychoanalyze Walk Like an Egyptian (lol how did he not know about it before? everyone knows that song) it's amazing how he can miss the parallels.

the burger king thing had me laughing the entire time. they're saying how great these buns with lettuce and tomato are and how this is such a revolutionary thing. it was kind of pathetic. and they were self-centered enough to believe they got kicked out because they had it their way. hello, reality? are you getting any signal at all? and when they pissed on his tomatoes. okay, i felt bad for the poor tomatoes but "he was about to reach his hands in the sky and pound the earth..." drama queen much? perspective, anyone? where the hell were the parents when this was happening? i know my parents would be at a graduation party at my house.

"i’m a hardcore guy, you have to respect me." that line made me so sad. you're not hardcore if you're saying something like that. and he just genuinely invested everything into this image. it breaks my heart a little bit.

and finally, just to touch on some of the wtf stereotypical things i've noticed..
"the mention of direction confused those of the female gender."
^^umm excuse me? i hope he just means they were some really dumb girls. because i get lost pretty easily but i can tell when something changes directions.

"the bookclub. we go there."

"People who claim that they’re evil are usually no worse than the rest of us. It’s people who claim that they’re good, or anyway better than the rest of us, that you have to be wary of."

Oh Steph you beat me! I think you're gonna agree with me on most of this. I agree with what you said too. This is somewhat of a rant because my opinion about cool kid Bart changed as soon as he was with his friends. I don't know I just immediately started disliking him. I actually wish I could take back all the nice things I said about him after Chapters 1-6. His need to be in charge and the leader. Yuck. And the way the girls fawned over everything he said was horrible. Even worse, he didn't want any of them to "top" him in their little world. Like he didn't want them to contribute to "his cause" he just wanted them to follow. After Chapter 9 I really didn't want to keep reading. I set the book aside for days and would look at it and think.... ugh, I should read more, but I didn't want to (of course I did cause I'm lame like that).

I didn't like the whole Burger King part. Except I did like how Grover challenged Bart but again Bart's dismissal of him "he was obviously not putting in the distillation time that Bart thought he did in developing his theories". Like he's the only one who can come up with any ideas. Grover worded his request at BK better "I'd like a Whopper similar to my associates here in its exclusion of animal based and non-organic items. And I'd also like extra pickles." Oh and ordering OJ. In your face Bart!!!

I really really really don't get Lansky at all! WTF was he talking about to that lady at BK? Whenever he talks I don't understand, so I've started to just skip over those parts.

I'm secretly hoping that John Eric and Meghan hook up. I was glad that he went with her after BK and then again after social studies. I like her. She "prided herself on belonging to no group in particular" Good for her! I loved it when she stood up to Bart and we just said "you're supposed to be shy", like that would shut her up. I couldn't tell though, did she throw her drink on Bart or was it someone else? I read it twice and it wasn't clear to me. I hope she did.

The idea that Bart thought the BK episode was a success and that they were standing up for their human rights, what a load of crap!
I was disgusted at Bart's god like image of himself. His followers would come and seek his guidance in the principles of harmonious existence. OMG that whole part about starting a new race, Gaians! Can you say crazy??!!! "a better race is coming" I don't even know what to say to that.

Then his thought about why he wouldn't just kill all the Crombies "the killers at Columbine were branded geeks for their actions, uncool, and that would never stand in Bart's legacy." THAT'S why??

This party he's planning, I expect it will all blow up in his face. I laughed that his brothers friends pissed all over his beloved tomato plant. Thank god they didn't eat it. Um and who asks for a colonic for a graduation gift.

Poor Mr. Marinara, just trying to eek by in life, should not be teaching. *rolls eyes* But again, I don't know how Lansky can go anywhere and talk like he does without causing conflict. Yay Meghan again for showing Bart up in class. "My father fancied himself one of the cool kids by listening to this drivel. Kind of pathetic." : )

I LOVED the whole Harry Potter broomstick story with the twins! LOL made me think of the heating pad story, of course. Sucks their meds ruined that for them!!!

Hahaha his pants fell down. I would have loved to see that. Then the confession that he wanted to be first with the twins, hmmm well at least has some resemblance to being a boy.

That song Short People was a joke. It was from a comedy show or something and then they started playing it on the radio. That used to happen all the time back then. It was a hilarious song.

I read about the parents who were gonna raise their child vegan and it died too. Wouldn't give it formula, cows milk or breast milk. Duuuh what else is a newborn gonna eat? That's crazy.

*Sigh* and then Chapter 13, Bart takes another crap. Really, seriously, do we have to read about it again? Oh, wait this time it's different, he's gonna jack off afterwards. Except he doesn't because his brother stole his magazine. This enrages Bart. Huh? The proportions of his emotions are so screwy.

Here's a quote for you: "With a sigh, a heave, a moan and a splash of cold water on his behind his blood began to flow freely again, producing a moment of lightheadedness. His execution was flawless." I feel like I'm supposed to clap or something. And he's so fucking proud... "despite the peril these episodes presented they always ended with him sitting there with the life affirming feeling that he could climb mountains and that his path was right and just." GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK, THE KID TOOK A GOD DAMN DUMP!! We all do it, most of us once a day, it's not exactly how we should measure our lives successes. I did notice he washed his hands again, even though he was pissed and ready to confront his brother, he had to stop and wash his hands (oh and look at himself in the mirror).

Mary Kate and Ashley, hee hee, twins again. I enjoyed reading about his humiliation when his mother caught him. So by this time I've decided that I'm reading this book trying to find enjoyment out of his pain. Kind of like any Ben Stiller movie.

Dear Joann,

I would really really love for you to participate in book club. I would not want to discourage you in any way. However, I will just say this... this is not my favorite book.

Hoping you stick around most sincerely,

Denise
