i'm almost finished reading it now.

it took a while to get into the story i found, then when it did i kinda remembered things about earlier chapters and thought it fitted perfectly.

plus i'm really enjoying all the lightly covered sexual inuendo that would have been only just acceptable in the time the book was first written, it's part of the fun to try and pick out what would have been drifted over, and what would have been exclaimed over.

in my oppinion it's turning out to be a fantastic story, and i'm loving that it's all written in diary entrys and correspondants to and from the people in the story.

anyway, anyone else have any thoughts?

Oooh I read that a while back! It was my friends book and I don't think I got to totally finish it because she kept annoying me for it back, but I do remember really liking it XD I thought it was really well written, but nearing the end it did get a tad boring. But, the majority of the book was fantastic, so it makes up for it.

I looooooooove that book so much! I honestly think it is one of my favs of all literature. I was a little dissapointed with the ending, but the book was great in my opinion. If you really liked it, go watch Francis Ford Coppola's movie version with Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins, and Winonna Ryder. GREAT movie- exactly what I imagined when I read the book.

idk. van helsing was alright. every time he said "friend jonathan" it made me think of jon walker. and my cousin and i started calling everyone "friend [insert name here]" for a while. but i think i liked the beginning the most because jonathan was a cool character. i like the characters at the end less. and the adventure drags on a bit.

I have to agree with you there, Rachel. Although, I wouldn't say the movie is exactly what I pictured when I read the book but it was pretty close! Great book.

I read this a while ago. It took a couple of days and it was so good. The version I read had had black, white and red pictures, which was really cool.

Wonderful book!
