has anyone read any of his stuff? i loved "on the road", but have been trying to read "the subteranneans" and have being finding it quite difficult. it's very modernist and hard to follow. the structure is all over the shop. i had to put it down for the time being as my brain was getting fried.

On the Road was a previous book club book on here. It took me awhile to get into, but then I really started to like it a ton. One of my old history teachers told me it's really the only book of his worth reading though...haven't read anything else!

from what i can tell it's the easiest to read. all the others are a bit too modernist for my liking, and you have to be really into the beat movement to appreciate them. i'm more into the folk revival than jazz. however, i love anything that's based in san francisco!
