Sooo the retreat was so much better then i thought it might. It wasn't awesome all the time, of course, but for the most part I think it went well. I'm glad to be home though. I slept well, but I can't wait to be in my own bed..and I get to come in a little late tomorrow for school, so whoot for that!!!! hahah

(it would have been cheaper to change it to Tuesday as well *eyeroll*)

i'm so tired right now. I bought Dramamine for tomorrow I feel like I've been in motion all weekend and it's catching up to me. That should help some.

i just got back from Saw IV. i don't know why i watch those movies. okay well i do know why-it's brilliant writing and if it weren't so damn gory it would be really cool. but i wish we went this afternoon because now i'm scared. taylor you're so lucky you didn't pay much attention to it. my face was buried in my hands for more than half of the movie.

Took Kim to the airport.

My mom took my car to the dealership earlier. They told us that there were some things they have to completely replace b/c they were so saturated and there's another part that they have to keep an eye on because if it messes up, the entire engine will be ruined. The mazda guy was just amazed at how much of a mess it was in there. Seriously ridiculous. Now I have to go back up there and explain it all.

Yes, I am Home!!! I'm so glad about that. Dorky things? Hmm..It's a bit hard to explain it all, but I actually did like most of it. It was a bit much sometimes having to sit there and listen to these long talks about various things..religion, life,etc...but I really did like some of them. And we got to write letters and read letters from people and that was cool..I got to write someone that wasn't really on my "list" of people to write, but yeah..It was cool overall.

I got to come into school late and only had 4 classes..which one was a study hall, so really 3 classes. The day flewww by. I was so stoked. I'm ready for the weekend though. It doesn't really feel like i had one, you know? But I'll make it.

My english teacher asked me some day last week to help at Play Practice and do the lights for the actual weekend of shows. I'm kind of nervous..i dont' wanna miss something or mess something up..so I hope i have someone else back there too..anyway, I'm gonna talk to her and see if she still needs someone and I guess I'll help. I think the show is in a couple weeks, so it wont' be too long..and I need to see if I can get service hours for it, b/c i need them. ahah I'll have to see though.

Hi girls!!! I miss you. I’ve been busy at work today. This weekend was A.mazing. Really a lot of fun and just what I needed. Except for the good-byes which always suck. I tried to shove Kim in my back seat so she could stay with me but… eh it didn’t quite work. We were stooopid and didn’t plan it out very well. She could have stayed with me and gone to This Providence tonight. Speaking of which…. they have occupied all my free time today. I’m a dork and have to prep. LOL!!! don’t ask. I found out they play two old songs in their set which I don’t know so I’ve been listening to the same two songs all day (8 hours) WWWWHAT ? uh huh I know. The show starts at 6 pm!!! I thought it was 7 pm. So now I have to scramble a little. TP (OMG TP, that’s soooo bad) *clears throat* This Providence, will go on third so I guess I could still get there at 7 pm.

can i just tell you how crazy and insane my work day was yesterday?

ok. let's begin:

i got there at 7am- YES! the ungodly hour of 7am! i had to leave the house at 630 just to make it there on time! *emotear*

not 10 minutes into my shift, this one resident "Jane" wanted me to make her breakfast. well, im fully aware that "jane" is incredibly lazy, and fully competent, so i told her no, but if she needed help- i'd help her out. she was like 'not even bacon? pleaaaaaase just make me bacon' and i went ""Jane" you MUST participate in your own existence. you can do it yourself". well- she certainly had a few choice words, and im certain she put a hex on me. so that was a great way to start the day.

next- after i gave out meds, this other resident "mary" came into the office and was saying how she couldnt breathe. i watched her take her nasal sprays and thought that that would help, but after a little while she came back into the office still upset.

well, she had just gotten up, and you know how sometimes you get up in the morning and need to blow your nose? pssh, im 21 years old- what do i know about blocked nasal cavities? so i told her to blow her nose. that was my big medical advice.

what does she do? she takes her index finger, covers her right nostril- and BLOWS OUT THE LEFT NOSTRIL. NO TISSUE, JUST BLOWS. omg, i thought i was going to vomit all over right then and there. i covered my eyes and turned my head and my voice got all high and i went ""Mary" USE A TISSUE! USE A TISSUE!!! PLEASE!" so she goes- "oh ok dear", and grabs a tissue, puts it in her hand, then takes her left pointer finger, covers it and blows out her right nostril WITHOUT USING THE TISSUE!!!

i was literally gagging at this point, im not even like THINKING that im gonna throw up- i KNOW im gonna throw up. i turned my head and went ""MARY" USE A TISSUE PLEASE USE A TISSUE!" so she finishes blowing, and i see boogers all over her hands- im gagging as i say "go wash your hands. go. go wash your hands right now".

so i leap up and start sanitizing the desk and the air and everything i can- and she comes back going "i hope im not going to die".

im like- oh great. just wonderful. there goes my nice calm quiet day of writing a paper during shift. i called my boss and let him know what was going on and he said to call 911 just to cover my ass.

so i hang up, and dial 911- but let me just tell you, its a family trait that when emergencies happen, we start to laugh. the most INAPPROPRIATE time will come, and ill start laughing. thanks mom. but anyways, its just how we cope. so im talking to the operator and am trying not to laugh as im explaining that the resident cant breathe, theres no tightness in the chest, her hands are NOT clammy, etc....

we hang up and i get up to make copies of her personal info and the list of her medications- only the damn copier is jamming. the doorbell rings and theres 3 cars with sirens on the top of their roofs and about 7 volunteers come rushing in.

in the meantime, im still working on this paper jam issue, the phone is ringing (the next door building wanted to know what was going on), other residents are wanting to know whats happening, and "mary" is freaking out. oh and did i mention i was the only staff member there until 3pm? yeah, it sucked.

so the ambulance comes- and now there's 4 flashing vehicles in the driveway- prompting another call from next door- and 'mary' is describing how she feels to the ambulance peeps. in the meantime- i still cant get the copier to work, and they cant leave without her information. finally, one of the paramedics came over and helped me get the copies made.

so they take her away in the ambulance, i called my boss to let him know what was happening- i called next door to let them know everything was ok and i called her emergency contact. now i had to do paperwork on the whole damn thing. took me an hour there were so many forms to fill out and progress notes to complete.

a little while later, another resident came to the office crying because she had diarrhea and her Depends diaper needed to be changed and she needed help. so we go into her room, i had to completely disrobe her, get her cleaned up, get new depends on her, and get her dressed again. this was the second time during the day i thought i was going to throw up- the smell was just ridiculous. she kept crying about how humiliated she felt and in between discreet gags i was reassuring her that it wasnt a big deal, hey this stuff happens, dont feel bad, its totally ok.

finally she was like' thank you for helping me' and i said to her 'hey thats what friends are for' and she smiled. so we're friends now- until i tell her she cant have any more coffee or something and then ill be her worst enemy.

after that- the hospital called and said that
'mary's' visit was totally unnecessary and she was ready to come home. i was like- well, im the only staff member on- i cant leave 12 residents to pick up 1. and i didnt know what to do. i literally did NOT know what to do. so i called next door, and they told me to tell the hospital to send 'mary' home in a taxi. so i called the hospital- told them to send her home and we'd pay for the tab. well. i sure as hell wasnt using MY money for her cab ride, and i KNEW that 'mary' didnt have any money- but the office which houses the funds was locked. so i called next door, and thank god they had some money from their funds to pay for the taxi fare. i then had to call my boss, let him know what was going on, and recall the emergency contact.

it was like 3pm now and the other staff member came in. i told him all about what had been going on and he gave me this look like "so?" which really pissed me off.

it was time to make dinner now- and the meat on the menu was steaks, but of course i couldnt find any steaks to defrost in the freezer because some jackass didnt buy the steaks. this set a lot of the residents off- but i kept telling them it wasnt my fault, relax. chill out.

i took out some ground beef to defrost during the day- and when i went to go put it in the pan to cook, i nearly was killed by the toxic fumes that came out of the bag- because of course the meat had gone bad.

so im cursing life at this point and go to throw it all down the garbage disposal, thinking 'great, NOW what should we make for dinner?' except as im doing this- the other staff member came over and puts the water on high (i had it on medium)- so bits and pieces of the beef that i just put in the sink, in the process of getting chewed up in the disposal, flung back up and hits me in the face. i start freaking out- the staff member starts laughing- it was just a nightmare.

when i left- i called my mom and we were alughing about the day and i said 'dammit mom! im going to the store to buy myself some jeans' and she said that was alright. i left the stores with 2 pairs of bootytastic jeans that fit like a glove, and 2 beautiful gorgeous rings that i just love. and dammit, after a day like that- i deserved it. haha

and that kids, is the story of my day yesterday.

(lol such a goodie-goodie). but i leaned against something and them mp3 player turned on and there was a good minute where fob was just blaring. oops. so denise-i'll get back to you after class. and lol i don't want him to play soulja boy-i tried to bribe him NOT to play it. he was like "what can i do, i hate the song too." umm hello, you can ignore their requests on the grounds that it's a stupid song. play my requests instead.
