also, my friend and i were talking about it and came to the conclusion that The Picture Of Dorian Grey is the same as a movie ,, except dammit ive had a mental blank and cant remember what it was called. does anyone know?

i loved the book. i could see the ending happening, but it was still amazing.
its sad, because i really wanted to like dorian. but then after basil, i just couldnt.
what struck me as funny though, was the few nights after the murder, i dont think that dorian really cared that he killed a loving friend, he just worried about himself.

i am kinda curious about the blackmail he had on the scientist. and why he killed himself at the end.

i didn't think he DID kill himself? i thought when he tried to stab the picture, it basically killed him instead, b/c it was his soul and ultimately him, you know?

Because the picture went back to normal..the way it was when it was first painted and then he was his old self, the way he would look if he didn't have the portrait..and the knife was in his heart..and idk, is that wrong? lol that is what i assumed.

the ending was crazy..but i liked it.

and yeah, i don't think he cared too much about Basil either. i wanted him to redeem himself, but people don't sometimes...so yeahh..it was an awesome book though! lol

He knew what would happen if he did that, so yeah, he killed himself.

I was on this myspace group thing about Oscar Wilde, just reading stuff and they mentioned songs that mentioned or had to do with Dorian Gray, and they mentioned this one where souls are talked about and Dorian Gray is in the chorus..it's a good song!! here are the lyrics..just thought i'd share:

Tears and Rain-James Blunt

How I wish I could surrender my soul;
Shed the clothes that become my skin;
See the liar that burns within my needing.
How I wish I'd chosen darkness from cold.
How I wish I had screamed out loud,
Instead I've found no meaning.

I guess it's time I run far, far away; find comfort in pain,
All pleasure's the same: it just keeps me from trouble.
Hides my true shape, like Dorian Gray.
I've heard what they say, but I'm not here for trouble.
It's more than just words: it's just tears and rain.

How I wish I could walk through the doors of my mind;
Hold memory close at hand,
Help me understand the years.
How I wish I could choose between Heaven and Hell.
How I wish I would save my soul.
I'm so cold from fear.

I guess it's time I run far, far away; find comfort in pain,
All pleasure's the same: it just keeps me from trouble.
Hides my true shape, like Dorian Gray.
I've heard what they say, but I'm not here for trouble.
Far, far away; find comfort in pain.
All pleasure's the same: it just keeps me from trouble.
It's more than just words: it's just tears and rain.

Tears and Rain.

Tears and Rain.

Far, far away; find comfort in pain,
All pleasure's the same: it just keeps me from trouble.
It's more than just words: it's just tears and rain.

hmm....really? i thought he just stabbed the picture b/c it was the last reminder of all that he did and the last reminder of killing basil and he wanted it gone and couldn't figure out why he'd even kept it for so long..i didn't think he actually wanted to die. i mean, why would he? he didn't really feel guilty....haha. idk. i guess that is just how i saw it..but i really have no clue now!!

I guess I could be wrong too, but I just always figured that he knew what he was doing... it puts a completely different spin on it if he didn't. Hmm never thought about it.

I loved it!

James Blunt, I didn't realize that, but I'm listening to in now!

The ending still confuses me a bit, but still amazing.

I feel bad for Mr. Vane. He really didn't deserve to die- even if it was his intent to kill Dorian before he got shot.

Dorian killing Basil was a shocker. I thought Grey thought of him as a best friend, so why did he kill him. Even if he was angry.

Dorian kind of grew apart from basil and if he was close to anyone, i think it was henry..

i hope you like the song! i'm kind of obsessed with at the moment. haah good song!

i feel bad for james too. i wish he wasn't so bent on revenge though..that led to his demise, but i do feel bad for him.
