Yay so Camille finally gets some action with Richard. She was very clever in hiding her scars I thought.

OMG that part where her mother actually said she didn't love her was so painful. then when she said she'd carve her name inot the one blank spot on her back I got chills!!! So creepy. Oh god I'm thankful for my mother.

Interesting confession from Meredith about the two girls biting and that's why the killer pulled their teeth.

sick place sick place sick place sick place i agree.

Poor Alan, seems like he's living in the dark wanting Camille to "make amends".

Again, another great conversation with Curry. I'm so thankful she has him in her life.

"Whenever I'm hear, I just always feel like I'm a bad person."

Hmmmm I don't know what to think about the partying with Amma. Seems so strange that Camille would want to do that.

"safer to be feared than loved" I'm not sure how Camille would know this since she's said she's never been loved.

Then the dream about Marian telling her it's not safe. I liked that little foreshadowing.

Adora's freakish reaction to the girls return, cleaning them that way. Run, run, run far and run fast. Get out while you still can Camille and take Amma with you.

quote:
You are thinking crazy thought. You are being unreasonable. But I'm not. My mother killed Marian. My mother killed those little girls
what? What? WHAT? ok, I saw the Marian thing, but not the little girls. Hmmm so she's just evil evil evil.

You know I was thinking about how Adora bit the baby when no one was looking and I realized that she would have had a lot of time alone with Camille, Marian and Amma when they were babies. I wonder what kind of horrible things she did to them that they can't even remember.

I didn't like how Jackie tried to reason away Adora's evilness on the way her mother treated her. Seems Adora's behavior is much more extreme than her mother's was. Still I guess we need the background.

She tells Camille to leave too. It's like in a scary movie when the house whispers "get out" and the people start unpacking and hanging pictures on the wall.

Ah John. I didn't see that coming.

"it's okay, it's okay, it's okay. And when I was done I knew for sure nothing would ever be okay again." Made me think of I'm not okay. If I were putting a soundtrack to this book I'd definately put that there.

Sad how she was gonna help him find the "relief of a blackout".

I thought the hotel scene was very important. I was eager for her to feel relief by letting her words be read and acknowledge. "The words stayed quiet. I felt exorcised."

Oh, no omen I hope the author isn't implying John killed those girls. I don't understand the foreshadowing here.

Poor Richard, like a smack in the face. Interesting she lied to him. I wonder why she did that. I didn't realized she even liked him all that much. I liked that John stood by her side in the hotel room. I liked that it wasn't "casual" for either of them. I like that he said "you saved me." Women like to save people. It's a very important role for us. Caretakers who make things better for others.

Hmmmm Ann jabbed Natalie with a sewing needle. I'm not sure how that plays into the murders. Katie's warnings seem to point the finger at Amma being the killer.

Oh boy I can't wait to unravel the rest of this plot. I'm really enjoying this book.

Hey Karina! No, we don't know who killed the girls yet. But Camille said twice now that she thinks her mother did it. Also some clues that maybe Amma had a part in it. John is still a suspect too.

i have to run to class so i'll only respond.

first the john/camille thing. idk how i feel about this. i'm happy because i love john (but he still cheated on meredith and no matter how much i don't like her that's not cool. and he's very close to underage so that's a little creepy). but i really liked the fact that he understood her scars and the way she said that for once her skin was quiet. the omen thing-foreshadowing but a little bit too obvious for me.

alan is a stupid puppet. omg it was so horrible when adora said she didn't love her. and that last spot thing-lady is a psycho! i kind of suspected her the whole book but i thought it was a little too obvious too. but i don't think she would have abused the babies-leaving marks would make her the villain. and she only needed to react to them when the public eye is on her. that's why she poisoned marian and why she bit the baby.

partying with amma (i think that happened in this part, yes?) doesn't seem like a good idea at all. from the first time we're introduced to her i got BAD NEWS vibes (yes, in caps lock). it kind of says something about camille's need for acceptance though. because really, she's an adult and she could easily say no to amma but some part of her wants to impress her. like the whole town, scary as it is i don't think it's any different from anywhere else in the world. it's just a small place so you can see it better. anyway, that's all for now.

how are you karina?

"the bookclub. we go there."

Steph - Yeah but John DID say he was going to break up with Meredith and then the murder so now he can't because of what people will say. Oh and she's just rotten and deserves every bit of awful that happens to her, that's karma. ha ha "almost under-age" never heard that one before. I think you know my thoughts here.

Denise: I agree, I think she was really clever with hiding her scars. I mean, she's so used to covering them, but not in that type of situation.

I'm thankful for mine too! That was awful. Sheesh...very very creepy. That woman is some kind of crazy, that's all I have to say.

I thought that was interesting as well. It makes you think if that's why they took the teeth you know? it's so odd how the two girls seem so much alike, at least based on what others say about them.

sick place? yes, sirre.

Oh, Alan made me so mad when he was telling Camille all that. How she's upsetting her mom and all that shit. I'm like 'are you crazy??'

I think it makes sense about Camille and Amma. I mean, granted, it wasn't right of her to do that, esp. with her 13 year old sister, but they kind of say in the book it made her feel like she was young again you know? She does what the others do to be loved and appreciated and it was like Marian again. Amma was loving her like Marian loved her. It's really sad.

Oh, I know! That dream was a bit freaky. I think i would have left right then..I'd be so scared from them on out. Well, more scared then I was, but it is good foreshadowing. always fun.

I saw that line before I even got there, so leading up, i'm just going "OMG! I knew she was messed up!!"

You're so right. She probably did a lot to them you'll never know about/they don't remember. That's so freaky.

I didn't see the John thing coming either. haha
Soundtrack to this book. That would be interesting to see if we actually could think of enough songs for this book. That would definitely fit. "i'm okay. I mean it. I'm okay. trust me. i'm not okay." something like that. fits.

I agree. I'm sure that made Camille feel good about herself in some way, that she helped John. And i'm glad they stood by each other too...and she allowed at least one person to really see her, and he didn't care. He just saw HER.

I know. It's a good book!!

Karina: Hey, what's up?

Stephanie: I agree. I don't think John should have cheated on Meredith either, and it is a bit creepy how far apart in age they are, but I still liked John. I felt bad for him.

okay so i said i was going to get on this.

denise: well isn't he just barely 18? that's just a few months over age. just dump meredith and move far away.

lauren: it says a lot about alan-like does he just doesn't see or does he blatantly look away? i like john too.

Still behind, and kind of catching up...

I'll respond:

Denise: Yes action, and it was clever. I'm thankful for my mom too. How horrible is that, saying you want to carve your name there. Ah, so sick. Curry is so great- I like him now a lot better than I did at the beginning. Didn't see the John thing coming either. I do wonder what Andora has to do with the murders, and what the Amma/ needle/ Natalie thing has to do too. I can't even think of what Andora could have done to the girls when they were little that they don't remember.

Karina: Same as what Denise said. But, I think Camille feels strongly towards the fact that her mother is the one who did the murders.

Stephanie: Omen was a really obvious foreshadowing, but I still liked it. I really sometimes wonder about Alan.

Lauren: True, Amma is loving her like Marian did. That's why Camille seems to be kind of attached to her, like a little reminder.

Stephanie: john just makes me go 'aww!' I love that kid. He's been through so much. He does need to just get away, so maybe he can be happy.
Yeah, Alan. I'd love to know more of what goes on in his mind. Is he really that clueless about things or does he just WISH to be clueless about it all?

Lynn: Exactly, that's what I thought. I think Marian was the one true example of love to Camille, and any reminder of that..she just can't turn away..so she knows it's wrong, but she can't just walk away from the love Amma is giving her.
