Okay...this is one of mine (the only one that's finished, lol)...

She grabs her bags and slips through the door
Running away from this place
She avoids confrontation by choosing to vanish
Disappearing is what she knows best

Run away once things get hard
And you’ll never get hurt
Is her mantra
As she erects barriers to shield herself

Once things get serious she will evanesce
Leaving them to wonder
It’s predictable that she’s scared by the unknown
Avoiding anything foreign

Be sure to vanish at the first sign of trouble
And you’ll always avoid pain
She thinks
But she’s starting to wonder about that

She’s been running for so long she’s forgotten
What love was like, once upon a time
She stops in her tracks and wonders
Thinking the pain might not be so bad

She crouches down as tears slip down her cheeks
Before turning around and heading back
There’s no more room for running
Time to face the music for good or bad

She reaches the door
Wonders if this is a good choice
She inhales and smiles
Realizing it’s time, she slips inside

*blushes* Thank you. I'm glad I left it up, I was seriously thinking of taking it down just because I'm really shy when it comes to my poetry, lol.

Ohhh I'm glad you started this thread =)
Meh...they changed the forum =P

Anyway.........for those of you who don't know, I'm Victoria, and I love poetry =) Here's a poem I wrote recently. Please critique; I don't mind if you say it sucks as long as you have some advice on how to fix it =)

Though the lies taste bitter in our mouths,
we live off them,
drink them.
Taking small sips
to force ourselves to believe
that it's the real thing.

We're all ghosts of our futures,
living in a false state of reality;
Trapped inside our web of deception
woven by forbidden dreams.

Slip beneath the surface of
"security" and make-believe.
Silently we'll all die.

Green with envy,
and a hint of blue:
shade in our tainted souls
as our poisoned hearts
choke on the truth.

A poem about my writing awful poetry, and how the sole purpose of my english class is now to demeam each other via short stories. Feel free to pull it apart, as i'm not a poet, and I don't pretend to be.

A thesaurus at my side, and not a single thing to say

prosaic squandering of a restless mind

Searching for that perfect lie, that metaphor from hell.

Just out of reach, as the blood drips from my ears

Objective revenge in the mirror is closer than it appears.

A single thought once hazed, now quickly dissapears

a mute that blathers on.

MusicFreak (sorry, I forgot your name =P): Thank you so much! And lol, before they changed the forums, my user was nobodyxlistens__ So pretty much I just added another "x." Lol. patdislove is some other person idk...

conspiracies: That's a pretty interesting poem. Very descriptive and it kept my attention. It sort of made me laugh, as it reminded me of the frustration I feel with writer's block.

Taylor: Haha, that poem really made me laugh =D Nice rhyming...although I prefer non-rhyming. It's easier for my poems to flow when I don't have the restrictions of rhyming. But that's just me.

i write poetry but i think i suck. here is one of mine so tell me what you think...

Death that Awaits us

I sit here,
watching
awake staring into the distance
I see something
its black
cold
but with bright yellow eyes
it stares back at me

It glides across the floor
not making a sound
The only thing i hear
is my cold, steady breathing
and my heartbeat thundering in my ears

I dont see it for a while
it wont show its hideous, yellow eyes
But all of a sudden i see it again
its standing right in front of me
face to face
I look into its eyes
he is playing horrible past times from my life in is eyes
I scream! and shield my eyes
and push him away
away from me
away from my world
my cold, dark world

He vanishes
but comes back again
right beside me
I can smell his horrible breath against my cheek
then i feel his cold, cold scaley hand on my shoulder
and then...
his claws

He glides behind me,
puts his claws across my neck
and cuts it

He is killing me slowly
watching me suffer
as i lay on the floor
and scream

He leaves
just letting me lay there

Now i must tell you that
he is on the hunt to kill you
and no man can kill it

So watch out your windows
for a hideous, black shadow
gliding across your yard with bright, yellow gleaming eyes
go away as far as you can
to escape the hideous beast that
hunts to kill anyong and everyone
run away to saftey for a while
until he finds you,
you cant escape the Death that Awaits us

well what do you guyz think¿¿¿
