In my school, for A-Level English Literature, they generally do something like:
-'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen -'Emma' by Jane Austen -'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens -'A Tale of Two Cities' by Charles Dickens -'Hamlet' by William Shakespeare -'Wuthering Heights' by Emily Bronte -'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Bronte -'The Canterbury Tales' by Geoffrey Chaucer -'Tess of the d'Urbervilles' by Thomas Hardy -et cetera Basically they like classics mostly. If you want something by a modern author, I've always like Jodi Picoult's books. I especcially love 'Vanishing Acts' by her, but 'Change of Heart' is also good. ˳˳˳˳˳˳˳˳˳˳ Twitter! I hate that book. My demonic English teacher is making us read that. It's boring and strange and random. |

one of ma friends read it last year for her int 2 p.s.l but i think a might stay clear of the classics as i can never really get engrossed it. im just trying to find a back up incase ma teacher doesnt let me do a twilight book cause that would be a lot easier.

I only suggested Great Expectations, but it really is a horrible book! I just didn't get the humour in it and it was kind of pointless.

The only person who liked it in my class was my teacher. She has read it way too many times for her own good and is in love with Dickens' work. She kept pointing out 'funny' parts and we were all sitting there with blank faces.
The film is even worse! There is this one part where a fire is meant to start and I swear some log just jumped out of the fire of its own accord. It was really fake and hilarious to watch... ˳˳˳˳˳˳˳˳˳˳ Twitter! "If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you." -Oscar Wilde. Formerly: MidnightSky. |

I hated studying it for my GCSE Coursework. I think most schools do offer it at A-Level, but we just did it this year. It was just so so dull and it took such effort to read it, even though I tend to love ALL books.

That sounds good. I hope they're more interesting than Great Expectations.
