Tempting, very tempting Dub. It just makes me kinda nervous when I think about driving that far by myself in a new place. With my luck, the car will break down in the middle of the desert and I'll get abducted by aliens...

i think my sister is coming too, she has to work at 6am monday and me at 7am though, so i dont know just how long we will stay out

My concert story starts before the concert. I had to attend a conference, so my sister picked me up from the Radisson hotel. (I had won a award to attend and they covered everything even though I felt bad about ducking out to attend a concert and then let my sister spend the night.) We had a bit of trouble getting around Dallas because it was the day of the UTAustin & OU 'Red River' Rivalry.

We missed Estelle.

We caught The Roots. They had an amazing set. My sister didn't know any songs beyond "I Got You." I can't say I'm that much better off for all the time I spend lurking on the okayplayer boards. I loved when Kirk did a cover of 'Sweet Child O Mine' and then 'Bad to the Bone.' They also had a sousaphone player, which everybody loved. Everybody in the band had a solo, but ?uestlove was the crowd favorite. After their set, ?uestlove threw signed drumsticks out and the crowd went wild. One drumstick got stuck in the insulation, and someone threw a shoe up to dislodge it, but the shoe got stuck up even further. The crowd chanted for him/her to throw the other shoe, but security made sure s/he didn't. Best between show entertainment ever!

Then it was time for GCHs set. To echo everyone else, it was amazing. The set was pretty much the same - open with Clothes Off!, a Papercut medley (but 'Papercuts' actually got the full treatment later on), the Prince cover, and Tyler (of Ladybirds, right? I think) played some guitar. To quote my sister, "You can tell Travis is sober because he raps faster!" (At the last headling show in Dallas, Travis gave a rambling, almost 5 minute intro to 'Scandalous Scholastics.' *cough*cokehead rant*cough* And I think that was before he almost drank an entire bottle of champagne.)

Since we were late, we went to the merch table after the show. As I was mulling over what to buy, ("So the ?uestlove for Prez is only in that size? It's too big. What about that shirt? And I'll take the index finger down tee.") when my sister pointed out that Disashi was there signing stuff and talking to people. There was an adorable back chiquita (14-ish) with braces who was over the moon with meeting Disashi. I didn't have a camera or my The Quilt on me, so I had him sign the shirt. I also got Tim to sign the shirt (he has very neat and tidy handwriting), and then DeJesus. Bluejay was there and my sister chatted with her since she (my sis) has better social skills then me, the lurker.

When we went around back to the parking lot, we saw Matt and Eric. I've talked with Matt at show shows before, so it was great to see him again. It's always fun to talk to him because I can say whatever weird thing pops into my head, and not only does he not look at me like I'm unhinged, but he keeps talkingand sometimes even laughs. So that was great, but then we had to go because I had to get up early for the conference in the morning. There is no emoticon that expresses what a great time I had.

So I got my shirt signed by everybody.

$20. Of course the hoodies cost more ($45 I think), but I didn't give 'em a second look. I'm happy with the white GCH one I have, and Texas never gets cold enough to justify having more than one out of function rather than fashion.

Thats so sad! I didn't see them either this time but that was by choice. Front row>M&G (for this show @ least for me). Have you met them before? They were just chillin' outside by the busses for my show.


Yea i've met them quite a few times...so it didnt feel the same not meeting them at their show this time..ya know? haha
