I bought ASASC as soon as I could. I put it in my CD player and it was GARBAGE. What happened to the songs like everyday's forcast, pillmatic, and all the songs on PCC. I dont know what happened to GCH. They were they shit. Did they turn gay because of bands like Fall Out Boy? PPC WAS 20000000000x BETTER THAN ACASC.

Yes they totally turned "gay" because of another band. That statement doesn't even make sense

A band isn't supposed to put out the same album twice its called growth and progression. Lyrics and content change and grow because people change and grow, writing skills improve.

Nothing happened to the songs on the papercut chronicles, they're still there on that LP for you to listen to and enjoy whenever you want. I personally Think As Cruel As Schoolchildren is brilliant, its a natural progression that really shows the band members influences. Travis still Spits hot fire and is continuing to get better and better as a lyricist, and musically they've never sounded better.

I'm sorry its not what you expected but it's far from garbage.

They grew musically on this album, because on Papercuts all the songs sounded the same, besides, they even said this is a summer album which is supposed to be light, Papercuts was very introspective yes, but ACASC still has those themes, you just have to listen a little more deeply

i love the album, but i like papercut chronicles more. of all 3 albums, id say this is my least favorite. i think the synth doesnt really show the group grew or got more mature, its never really a key sound, more like something added on to a final product. i find it a bit annoying, especially on Write On. and the cleaner cut versions done acoustically at the myspace tents at warped sounded better than the album versions (Its OK But Just This Once and On My Own Time specifically.) i just liked papercut's more, not that this one is bad. dont go crazy on me.

B Rad on point as usual. How boring it would be if every album sounded the same. this cd is god damn amazing, its got a fun summer album feeling on it. sounds like they had more fun while making this album, and tried new things such as travis singing. if you dont like the new cd, then dont listen to it.

travis mc coy be like the influenza/ flow sick these other rappers on some old common cold.. shhhhh

yeah, I think people were expecting another super intense album like the Papercut Chronicles, but if they did that, then you would be able to put gch into a neat little box, I like how fun it is, it matches the summertime feel to it

I thought the same after listening once, thinking that Travis's clever lyrics were gone, but by the second time I'd listened, those thoughts were gone. This album is the same lyrically as PCC, but more evolved. "The Legendary" is a genius

yeah... same here..

especially when I first heard "New Friend Request"

my initial reaction was something like "WTF, this is the stupidest subject matter ever... this isnt even GCH, this is probably something pete wentz said they needed on the album"

and for the rest of the album, it took me a couple days to grasp, but now I really dig it.

my only beef with the new cd was that there is obviously programed percussion throughout most of the album, and in most cases full out programmed instrumentals, and although those things can be easily replicated for the live show, the main appeal of this band to me (besides dope lyrical flow) was the whole live band aspect.

but like i said

i really dig ACASC now.

I understand that, but like you said it can be easily replicated live which is an advantage because you'll get a whole new look at the song when they play it live. (example: No Doubt's "spiderwebs" is heavy on synth on the album which i like alot, but its so much bettter live when they play it with trumpets and saxaphones) Essentially they're full band songs, they were written as a full band, but when you're recording you want something to sound as good and as full as possible, which is what i love about this album. It's has many more layers and much more depth sonically in addition to lyrical growth.

All in all ACASC is still GCH, stepped up to the next level.

I haven't had the pleasure of hearing any of the albums off the new album live (with the exception of New Friend Request because I'm in the video. The guy in the yellow polo w/ the messanger bag who jumps in toward the end of the second third of the video.)

However, I have had the opportunity to hear GCH do Papercut Chronicles live less than a year ago. One thing that I've noticed about the band from those two experiences is that the band is a group of guys who are enjoying their lives right now.

As a writer myself (albeir short stories) its hard to write songs like Simple Living 2.0 when you're enjoying yourself. If I won the lottery tomorrow my mind isn't going to be on stuffing six packs in my bubble coat in three months. I'm past that stage in my life.

Furthermore, you can't write another To Bob Ross with Love (although I wouldn't have minded a third incarnation of the track personally) when you've been on the road and nowhere near a college campus (unless your performing), but you can do give us a song about the last 7 Weeks.

I agree I can relate whole heartedly to Papercut Chronicles. However, I don't think I could stomach another Faces in the Hall with out some Scandalous Scholastics to lighten the blow for the next installment in Travis' story telling.

So the next time a band you like makes "progress" take the time out to evaluate where they are in their lives and careers. It makes for a greater understanding of the music.

P.S. DO NOT. I repeat. DO NOT. Compliment "The Legendary" under any circumstances. Complimenting him is like feeding a Grimlin after midnight. It's the reason why he's Legendary.

Bonnita Applebum how come you won't put me on? Is it because I left my crazy prophylactics in El Segundo along with my wallet the last time we were performing our Electric Relaxation?

Son, I'll take midnight swims if I want to. All that happens is I get a dozen biters hoppin off my back.

PS This man is right listen to him, you can't write the same album twice. Musical Progression not musical Stagnation
